Trick or Treat

Luke LOVES trick or treating and we have some fun houses in our neighborhood to go to.
For example, Dr. Baker serves apple cider and mini cinnamon rolls.

Here is Luke in front of the Wells home. They have a fun Dracula on their porch that Luke thinks is pretty cool.
All the candy that Luke brought home. He was nice enough to share some of it with his mom and his dad.

Swing Batter Batter

Luke received a bat and ball for his birthday. He was pretty excited. He asked Dustin to go out and play ball with him before they went out trick or treating.

Luke did pretty good. Dustin would throw the ball to him and Luke actually hit the ball a couple of times. With a little more practice, he could be pretty good.

Bowers Birthday Bash

Luke's birthday was on a Sunday this year so we decided to invite the Bowers side of the family for a party. He received lots of really nice gifts, a lot of books.

Luke LOVES opening presents. He has a lot of really nice cousins, aunts, and uncles as well as a grandpa who gave him some really nice presents.

I made Luke 2 cakes. One cake was just for him and was a spider cake. The other one was a white cake with a chocolate ice cream filling. I decorated that one to look like a Jack O'Lantern.

After presents, the kids went downstairs to play. They had a lot of fun. Luke LOVES playing with his cousins.
Grandpa B. was still in town and was able to make it to Luke's party. He had a lot of fun playing with the boys.

Family who came to help us celebrate Luke's birthday:
The White Family
The Bowers Family
Grandpa B.
Steve and Terri Wagstaff
Tammy Bleak
The Wagstaff Famiy with their new twins Matthew and Michael

Happy Birthday Luke!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUKE!

Our baby boy - that isn't a baby anymore -has turned 4! We had a special breakfast with Grandpa B and Luke picked the menu. Muffins, eggs, Canadian bacon and of course - chocolate milk!

He picked the dinner menu too - chicken nuggets! So we made them because (unfortunately) we watched how chicken nuggets are made on You Tube and I'm not a fan anymore. Besides I thought these were just as good and Luke loved helping me make them. He even has his own apron.

We had such a fun and busy day that mom and dad totally forgot to give him his presents! So at 9:00 P.M. - when Luke should have been in bed - he received his presents!
A bat and ball - when the ball hits the bat, you can hear a crowd cheering!
Roller Skates

which he immediately put on

Note to self - when giving a child roller skates for the first time - wear shoes because they will run your feet over!

He loved it AND he slept with them that night (of course!)

Sharing Time

Luke was given the assignment of giving a talk in Sharing Time. The theme for the month was Prayer is Reverent Communication between God and Me. We practiced his talk the entire week before and Luke actually had parts of it memorized, especially the scripture.  Here is the talk he gave:

In Alma 37:37 it says:
Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good; yea, when thou liest down at night, lie down unto the Lord, that he may watch over you in your sleep; and when thou risest in the morning, let thy heart be full of thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day.
One night when I was in bed, I was feeling scared so I called my mom to come sit with me. She told me that I'm never alone, that Heavenly Father is always with us. She told me we can pray to him for comfort and to feel his spirit. We then said a prayer and afterwards I felt good inside and I was able to fall asleep.
I know that Heavenly Father hears our prayers and that he loves us. When we are scared and need his help, he will help us. I know Heavenly Father loves me.

Luke did such a good job. Since Grandpa B. was staying with us, he came to see Luke speak. Grammy, Poppy and Uncle Joe came too. Luke has lots of family that loves him so much and takes the time out to show him how much they love and care for him. Grammy commented on how well Luke did and how he had parts of his talk memorized. She also mentioned how clearly he talks and how they were able to understand what he was saying.

I was thankful that we have had teaching moments in our home so that we actually had a personal experience to share. It helps to have these moments when we are taking the time to read our scriptures and say our prayers as a family. I am so thankful that we have the gospel in our lives for the guidance, peace and comfort it gives us.

Classic Birthday Party

Luke is one lucky boy! He was able to have a friend birthday party and it was at Classic Fun Center. (Not a lot of preparation which was fine with me.)

I asked Luke what kind of a birthday cake he wanted and he said a firefighter one. Okay - I can do that, with a little help from my hubby!! We had a fire truck cake pan but I couldn't see the lines after we put the base frosting on. So Dustin outlined the entire shape for me - he is the BEST!! He did such a great job.
After outlining the cake, he helped me fill in everything. He does awesome wheels!!

I thought it turned out really good. I was really impressed with our work and Luke loved it.
Plus it tasted really good. Luke invited 8 friends to his party. His friends that came: Connor Hoag, Eva Lunt, Megan and Tommy Allen, Alaina and Lydia Miller, and Andrew and Tyson White.
Connor, Eva, Luke and Alaina

After all the kids arrived, we had cake and then we opened presents.
Tommy & Megan = cool (BIG) puzzle with stickers
Eva = outfit with a cool motorcycle on the shirt
Alaina & Lydia = Cars bath set (with a cool pretend camera that Luke carried around)
Connor = cool Cars car

We spent the rest of the time playing on the Jungle Gym and Bouncy house. The kids had a blast running every which way We were there for a couple of hours and they could have stayed longer (mom and dad were done though!). Dustin promised Luke they would definitely come back.

Grant even had fun!
