FHE - I Know that Heavenly Father Loves ME!

We had a great Family Home Evening tonight. As I thought about the most important thing that we could teach Lucas, I determined that I wanted him to know that he is loved. Because we sure do love him a lot. But most importantly we want him to know that Heavenly Father loves him too.

Of course our lesson turned towards families and Lucas drew his first ever family picture. He had to make sure that everyone had a head, a stomach, arms and legs. Lucas is a great artist!

Just the Boys!

Dustin really wanted to do something special with Lucas and so he took him to the drive-in movies. Since Kung Fu Panda just came out and Lucas really wanted to see that movie - they went. Just the two of them. Mommy and Grant stayed home while the 'big guys' went out.
During the movie, Lucas was laughing so hard that Dustin had to tell him to keep it down so the neighbors wouldn't complain. I guess it was a funny movie.
On the way to the movie, they stopped to get gas and of course they bought a couple treats at the gas station. Lucas ate so much junk food that he made himself sick.
As they were waiting for the movie to start, Lucas told Dustin "This is nice."
Lucas also told Dustin that they are best friends. He brought up the Golden Rule as well and that we need to treat people the way we want to be treated. Dustin said it was quite the night!

Brother's

Lucas loves his new little brother! I went into the bedroom where Grant was sleeping and Lucas had snuggled up next to him to watch his movie. Lucas loves to be next to him. I can't wait until Grant is older because I know that Lucas and Grant will be the best of friends!

Faith is Like a Seed

Lucas LOVES Primary. Sharing Time was about faith and how it is like a seed. We need to nurture that seed to make it grow. She then proceeded to demonstrate how to plant a seed to the kids. Afterwards, each child received a paper bag with a cup, dirt and some seeds to plant their own.

Lucas insisted that he needed an apron and gloves to plant his seed. I let him have my apron to wear but I refused to get out the winter clothes that I had just packed away to find his gloves so he had to make do. But he did a great job planting his seeds.

I hope he will remember this lesson and continually nurture his testimony. If he does, I know he will be happy because nothing makes me happier that having the gospel in my life.

Gettin' some Sun

Grant is totally a momma's boy - which is totally fine with the mom. But there are sometime when she can't hold him and Daddy has to. We have found that Grant will calm down a lot when he is outside or in his bouncy seat.
Dustin ended trying both this morning and we all ended up spending over an hour outside under our tree in the front yard. We even ate lunch outside. Grant slept the entire time, it was so nice outside. Unfortunately we discovered a little later that he had a slight sunburn. The sun shifted and he wasn't completely in the shade. Poor baby. We forget that his skin is super sensitive since he is only 3 weeks old!

Wedding

Keedra Bowers was married today to Britton Banks. Dustin and I attended her reception at Noah's in South Jordan. It was only our second time leaving Grant. At the reception there was a "photo booth". The guests actually go into a booth and have their picture taken 4 times. The 2 sets of pictures are printed; one for you to keep and the other to go into a book of the bride and groom. Everyone would then sign the book next to their picture and leave a message. This is our picture of hear no evil, speak no evil.

First Bath

Finally! Grant is 3 weeks old and he is getting his first bath! It seemed to take forever for his umbilical cord and circumcision ring to fall off so we could finally submerge him in water.

It seems that Grant does not care to be naked and wet and cold BUT he does like having warm water sprayed on him. After we covered him with a wash rag and sprayed him with the warm water, he calmed down and seemed to enjoy his bath. He especially likes having water poured on his head which is a complete opposite of Lucas. Hopefully it will be easier to wash Grant's hair.
