Fun and Exciting News!

The first counselor in the Bishopric called Sunday morning and wanted to visit WITH ME. I immediately thought of Primary because a bunch of people have moved in the last month.

I was right!! I am now the teacher of the CTR 7 class which I think is the class right before they turn 8?

Anyway, I am very excited about this calling because it will be a great Sunday calling, I get to go to Primary with Luke and I don't have to feel guilty about having to leave during the week. It's a win, win!
Now if we can get to church on time...

Gingerbread Houses

We decided to try making our very own gingerbread houses this year with graham crackers. It turned out pretty well but we have some new ideas for next year.

Seth really got into putting a house together and he made a pretty awesome house. Luke and Dustin made a cool 2 story house, Tyson made a gingerbread car and Andrew made a cute little house. Even Grandma B. made a house.

We had so much fun.

Luke and Dustin won the prize for making the Nummiest gingerbread house.

Reindeer Fun

Someone sent me a picture of this and so I had to try it. It looks cute and easy to make.
It was a little harder that I had anticipated. It was just apicture and there weren't instructions so we totally guessed on how to make it. We did all right and Luke did great helping make the eyes. He loves helping in the kitchen and he's so good at it too (most of the time).

First Encounter

Our ward had its annual Christmas Brunch. The Bishopric makes pancakes for the entire ward and Santa stops by to visit the children.

It was Grant's very first time meeting Santa and it went pretty good. There wasn't any screaming or crying while trying to get away from a strange man in a red suit. Just an inquisitive look of "Who is this guy?"

Book of Mormon Challenge

Today our stake president, President Daw, has challenged each of us to read the Book of Mormon. Everyone was given a copy of this card to keep track of the chapters they've read. I was just thinking today how our leaders have been counseling everyone a lot lately to not only read the scriptures but to study them. They always promise peace and happiness to those who read daily.

Our family has decided to take on this challenge, even Luke has. We also decided to have an incentive to help us reach our goal and we have decided that everyone who completes the Book of Mormon will get to go on a four wheeling trip in March. It's going to be so much fun to go on that trip but it will be that much more sweet knowing that we are following the counsel of our leaders and doing what the Lord has commanded us to do.

Anyone else who reads the Book of Mormon before March 9th is more than welcome to join us. Just let us know!
Happy Reading!
Happy reading!!

Making Breakfast

Once upon a time, I could make some amazing meals and goodies. Sometimes I could even impress myself. I didn't burn things, I didn't forget to make parts of the meal, it was great.
Then I had kids and this is what happens.
I was trying to juggle making waffles for Luke (because suddenly he doesn't like pancakes), eggs (protein to make me feel better about the meal), occupy Grant (because I don't like to leave him in other rooms by himself) and get some bacon going. I guess I'm not super mom (but I try).
All of the sudden Grant was really quiet and this is why. He had his hands in the waffle batter. I think Grant has Go-Go-Gadget arms, either that or I forget to make sure things aren't too close to him. If there is anything remotely close to him, he will reach for it and play with it. He loves to explore everything around him and is constantly putting everything in his mouth. Nothing is safe when Grant is around, which can be good and bad.

McMazing Puppet Show

Holladay Library had a Christmas puppet show planned for today. I love the other shows the library has so I thought this would be fun. It wasn't quite what I expected though. It was 2 guys with some stuffed animals and a couple of puppets. There stories were a little lame but they had great messages. The first one was based around the gift of the magi and the second story was about forgiveness. So what if they were really corny, right?

They also sand a couple of songs. One song they sang was "Jingle Bells" and the had the kids all standing and pretending they were bells. It was pretty cute!
Luke is so polite in public. The highlight of the show is that they had a bubble machine and they turned it on for the kids before and after the show. Kids were jumping around all over the place except for Luke who was sitting behind the white line. I think some girl even fell over him but he just sat, patiently waiting. Crazy kid!
You can see him sitting in the middle of the picture.
